LV's Progress in Foster Care
by foster mum Mandy

LV has been gaining more confidence with every walk and is now greeting everyone we meet out with a friendly wiggle.  Here she is enjoying herself in Pasir Ris Park:

She loves getting out for a run, but gets tired after about half an hour and is then happy to snooze in the sunshine.

She needs an owner who will give her lots of love and seems to enjoy a mix of quiet and company. She loves being around other dogs and wants to say hello to any we see when we are out.

With the aid of some juicy treats she has learnt the basic commands of sit, lie down, come and walks very well on her lead. She is a bright little dog who LOVES food and so can easily be trained.

We have noticed that due to not having much interaction with children currently she is a little hesitant around boisterous children, but I think that in the right family she will soon adapt if given her own space to settle in, and will become a loving friend to any young child who has a caring and calm attitude towards dogs.

Update from 6 Nov: Her progress is phenomenal! She's a new dog, lovable, bright, inquisitive - a dog for any family. Her initial shyness, particularly with men, has dissolved and she's in love with life! A pretty dog too, commented on by everyone new who meets her. We're SO LUCKY to have this chance to foster her and help find her a forever home.

3 Nov: LV is apparently older than first anitcipated so it means she will not grow as large first thought. Perhaps Beagle-size which is great!

She spent some time at the beach this weekend surrounded by children and was great with the younger toddlers. A little more shy of older children, but only because of the noise and this was really her first outing in a busy area. Everyone was commenting on how well behaved she was.

Leash training and basic command training is a joy to witness. She studies my other dogs very closely to learn from them. She has also improved tremendously with meeting new people and greets everyone with a very happy wiggle and paw.

28 Oct: LV has been getting on brilliantly at our house! She is fantastic with other dogs and cats. Travels well in the car. Her toilet training is coming along with ease - all I have to do is take her out periodically and she goes to the same spot every time. She seems content with her own company so I have left her alone for a few hours at a time in case she is adopted into a condo or doesn't have other doggy pals. She just cuddles up under our sofa and goes to sleep. No coming home to anything chewed or puddles so far.

She's a little wary of my husband still but is getting better with me. She loves cuddles! She has been sleeping in our room and just snuggles into her blanket under our bed and goes to sleep.

She is a little possessive over chews with other dogs but no issues with food, toys or chews with people. Our own dogs listen to her funny warning murmurs (it's not eve a growl) and leave her alone.

She's responding well to treaining with treats.

I think she will be great with children - I tried pulling her about a bit to see how she reacts and all I get is licks and body wiggles. LV is basically a very gentle sweetheart and is perfect for any potential adoption.

She is a bit of a Houdini in the garden. We've had to buy some new fencing as she keeps getting out. She's not a barker either, also a plus if she ends up with a family in a condo.
